QUARTERBACK - DUDS
Donovan McNabb (Philadelphia Eagles) – The fans of Philadelphia must be even more obnoxious and inappropriate then they usually are after the effort that their team put up in a game for the division title. McNabb certainly came up small as he was just 20-of-36 for 223 yards. He failed to throw a touchdown pass, and also fumbled the ball away once. He had plenty to play for so I thought his projection of 15 points was a little low, but he didn’t even get half of that with the six that he put up.
Hallam’s Take: It was another year of McNabb being McNabb. He is always good for a low to mid 20s in touchdowns and around 3,500 yards. He will be a good fantasy football quarterback for those of you to choose if you don’t like to take a QB early. With DeSean Jackson and now Jeremy Maclin at wide receiver, McNabb has his best group of receivers in a long time.

QUARTERBACK - STUDS
Jay Cutler (Chicago Bears) – In what can be viewed somewhat as a resurgence, Jay Cutler had his second straight strong performance from a fantasy perspective. Cutler was 22 of 36 for 276 yards and thre four touchdowns for the second week in a row. The Bears’ quarterback was projected for just 14 points based on the fact that his interceptions would hurt him, but without any turnovers, he scored 27.
Hallam’s Take: Cutler has certainly taken his share of blame for the state of the Bears season, but let’s be honest, would Kyle Orton have thrown 27 touchdowns? No way, especially not with this group of rag tag receivers and the horrible running game manned by Matt Forte. Cutler may have thrown a ton of interceptions, but he was trying to make plays and make something happen, and I don’t think that he should be chastised for that. He is a low end QB1 in 2010, and if the Bears are able to get him a reliable weapon and their offensive line improves, he could be even better than that.

QUARTERBACK - DUDS
Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) – This is two straight weeks on this list for Brees as he is certainly not finishing this season like he started it. Either way, though, he is still one of, if not the best quarterback in fantasy football, and as a must start, you can only take the production he gives you. Brees was a very effective 32 of 37 for 258 yards, but he had just one touchdown in Sunday’s surprising loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Going up against the Bucs, who had given up 25 passing TDs prior to week 16, Brees was the third highest rated quarterback with 21 points, but was able to score just 14.
Hallam’s Take: Brees already has another 4,000 yard and 30 touchdown season under his belt, so it is hard to complain too much about the last couple weeks of down production. He will face the suddenly resurgent Carolina Panthers in the season finale, but if he has brought you this far, there is absolutely no way that you can even think about sitting him now. Brees is one of the best and should be one of the top two fantasy quarterbacks again next season.

QUARTERBACK - STUDS
Donovan McNabb (Philadelphia Eagles) – I left him off the list last time he had a big game, so I want to give McNabb his due this week. Against a pretty good Denver Broncos defense, McNabb was 20-of-35 for an impressive 322 yards with three touchdowns and just one interception. He also ran the ball five times for an additional 29 yards, but he did lose a fumble in the game. McNabb was projected to put up 16 points, but he did far better than that as he was able to score 22.
Hallam’s Take: Others like McNabb more than I, but I am going to stay true to my thoughts on the veteran signal caller. It is another run of the mill season for McNabb as it looks like he will finish with mid-20s in touchdowns and just over 3,000 yards. He is not an elite quarterback fantasy wise, and is a very low end starter. He has had six games in which he threw one or zero touchdown passes, and that is just a little too much for my taste.

QUARTERBACK - DUDS
Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) – Brees has carried many a fantasy football team into the playoffs with his MVP type performance in 2009, but he may have cost many of those same people their playoff matchups with a below average performance. Brees was 29-of-45 for 298 yards, but came up with just one touchdown and an interception. He ran the ball two times for another eight yards, but uncharacteristic of Brees he also fumbled the ball away twice. Brees scored just nine points when he was supposed to delight his owners with 20 fantasy football points.
Hallam’s Take: No matter how many sub-par games he might have or whoever his opponent is, there is never any reason to not play Brees. It doesn’t even matter who your other quarterback is, unless it is Peyton Manning of course. Brees will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next week and he should be good for at least 2-3 touchdowns.

QUARTERBACK - STUDS
Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers) – Rodgers’ owners, who have been riding the Green Bay quarterback the entire season, now have had him take them to the championship. Rodgers came up huge in the biggest game of the fantasy season as he was 26 of 48 for 383 yards and three touchdowns. Rodgers also ran the ball three times for 22 yards and another score. Rodgers was expected to post a solid 17 points, but more than doubled that with 37 on the day.
Hallam’s Take: If there was a question about him coming into this season, Rodgers has answered it quite emphatically as he is definitely one of the elite quarterbacks in fantasy football, if not the top dog. Rodgers is of course a must start as you enter the last week or two of the season, no matter what other QB you have on your fantasy roster.

QUARTERBACK - DUDS
Brett Favre (Minnesota Vikings) – Even though the Vikings won the game, it was the Adrian Peterson show in week 14. The Vikings got ahead early and cruised to the victory over the Bengals, meaning #4 wasn’t asked to do much. Favre was 17 of 30 for just 192 yards with one touchdown and one pick. Favre had a modest prediction of 16 points as he was going against a good Bengals’ secondary, but he couldn’t even reach that total as he finished the day with just nine fantasy points.
Hallam’s Take: Being a big Favre-hater, I like to take the chance to write about games in which he fell short of expectations when they come. For one week, the Vikings decided to give Adrian Peterson the ball near the goal-line, instead of the never ending string of one yard touchdown passes that Favre has racked up this year. He is definitely an elite fantasy quarterback again this year, and should stay in your lineup over the last few weeks.

QUARTERBACK - STUDS
Matt Schaub (Houston Texans) – It was the kind of game his fantasy football owners had been getting used to from him and were happy to see now that the playoffs have come around. Schaub was 29-of-39 for 365 passing yards and two touchdowns with just one interception. He didn’t blast his projection of 17 points, but Schaub did put up 20 points and helped his owners get a much needed playoff victory.
Hallam’s Take: I came into the season with some doubts about how good Schaub would be, but he has proven me wrong pretty much every single week. The only thing that the offense is lacking is a consistent running game, but the good thing about the guys running the ball is that they are very good at catching passes out of the backfield, giving Schaub extra targets to throw to. He has a real shot to throw 30 touchdown passes this year, and should be treated as a starting fantasy football quarterback in 2010.

QUARTERBACK - DUDS
Carson Palmer (Cincinnati Bengals) – Since the calendar changed to November, Carson Palmer’s fantasy statistics have disappeared despite the fact that the Bengals keep winning. It continued in Week 13 as Palmer was 17-of-29 for only 220 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Palmer also ran five times for just seven yards and fumbled the ball. Palmer was looked upon for a modest 15 points, but scored a very disappointing five for his owners.
Hallam’s Take: Since a five touchdown performance in Week 7 against the Chicago Bears, Palmer has thrown just three touchdowns in the five games since. Not only are his touchdowns dwindling, but he hasn’t thrown for over 225 yards in any of those games. He will face the Minnesota Vikings, San Diego Chargers, and Kansas City Chiefs in the fantasy football playoffs, but considering he has been a non-factor in games against the Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns, and Detroit Lions, it doesn’t seem that the match-up dictates how Palmer does. If he’s been your starter the whole season, it’s tough to jump ship now but don’t expect him to breakout anytime soon.

QUARTERBACK - STUDS
Brady Quinn (Cleveland Browns) – The Cleveland Browns keeps losing, but perhaps they are finding that they didn’t waste that first round draft pick on Quinn. Against a better than average San Diego Chargers’ defense, Quinn was 25 of 45 for 271 yards and three touchdowns; however, it is worth noting the QB did fumble the ball once. Even with that small blemish, Quinn was good for 21 points, which far exceeded his projection of just seven points.
Hallam’s Take: This is two quality games in the last three for Quinn, and maybe he is starting to figure it out. He is handcuffed by the fact that he doesn’t have many playmakers on offense, but the Browns do have a few young players with potential in Mohamed Massaquoi and Jerome Harrison. You can’t trust Quinn here in 2009, especially with it being playoff time in the world of fantasy football, but if he can finish the season strong, he will give himself some value in drafts for 2010.
