Here we are, game week! The pinnacle of the football season is coming, as the Super Bowl between the best two teams in all of the NFL will be on everyone’s mind throughout the weekend. This year you couldn’t have picked two better teams, as both the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts were undefeated through most of the regular season and flexed their muscles this postseason.
Two high-powered offenses will take the field on Super Sunday, as both the Colts and Saints are led by the best quarterbacks in all of football (Peyton Manning and Drew Brees). For the defenses, this is an utter nightmare. All season long we have ranked any defense facing Indianapolis or New Orleans as a one or two star defense. Well you have to pick one right? Let’s see if we can figure out who will be the better option for Sunday in our Super Bowl Round edition of the Bruno Boys Weekly Defense Rankings.
As we head into the article, I would like to explain the “Bruno Boys Star System”.

1. (New Orleans Saints) vs. Indianapolis Colts
Why take the New Orleans Saints defense over the Indianapolis Colts? Well even though their one sack in two games this postseason is a bit scary, you seen in the Minnesota Vikings game that they will try to get after the quarterback any way possible. While the Indianapolis offensive line does a terrific job of keeping Colts quarterback Peyton Manning off his backside, just a bit of pressure will force Manning to make some tough throws that he isn’t accustomed to. Add that New Orleans is one of the most opportunistic defenses in the NFL, with seven turnovers forced in only two postseason games, the takeaways will lead to big points if they can get them. Either way this game is going to have a lot of offense with neither defense being a very good play. But since you have to start one, go with the Saints due to being the better fantasy football defensive unit all season long and the one that will have better odds of scoring a touchdown.

2. (Indianapolis Colts) vs. New Orleans Saints
A lot could depend on the health of defensive end Dwight Freeney. If he doesn’t play, the Saints will not have to max protect for their quarterback Drew Brees, which means guys like running back Reggie Bush should be able to come out in the flat to make some plays. Our bet is Freeney plays, but doesn’t make the impact that he could at 100-percent. While Indianapolis has played better defense this postseason than they did in the regular season, their one sack shows that even with Freeney, teams have found ways to limit their pass rush. While the Colts have produced five turnovers, it’s going to be tough for them to limit all the playmakers the Saints will throw out on the field. Even though the Indianapolis defense has played well during the postseason, it’s tough seeing this unit scoring enough fantasy football points to make them a worthy play.
