No more bye weeks. No longer will you have to find bye week fillers at any of your positions. The toughest ones to fill are with your defense, since you likely only keep one and you don’t want to drop your best unit which you play every other week. That means you sometimes have to drop a position player to fill out your roster, which makes decisions awfully difficult. If you have been a fantasy player who relies on the match ups every week, well you’ve been coming to the right place. Again Bruno Boys has ranked the defenses 1-32 with our 5 star system. With the fantasy football playoffs upcoming, remember to always look one week ahead with your defenses, as long as you have the roster space, because if you do, you will be having the upper hand on the competition. Now it’s time to check out the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 11 Defense Rankings .

BRUNO BOYS DEFENSIVE STAR SYSTEM

5-Stars (* * * * *) - Bruno Boys Top Plays of the Week

4-Stars (* * * *) – Bruno Boys Very Solid Plays of the Week

3-Stars (* * *) – Bruno Boys Average Plays of the Week

2-Stars (* *) – Bruno Boys Try to Avoid Playing this Week

1-Star (*) – Bruno Boys Do Not Start Unless You COMPLETELY Have To

Key Abbreviations: YPG (Yards Per Game); PPG (Points Per Game)

1. (Pittsburgh Steelers) @ Kansas City Chiefs

Even without their best player on defense (safety Troy Polamalu in unlikely to play), the Steelers defense should have no problem being the best unit this week. Pittsburgh has allowed 277.4 yards and 17.4 points per game with 25 sacks and 13 turnovers this season. Facing a Kansas City Chiefs team who hasn’t scored more than 24 points in one game all season (and that was in Week 1), you can expect the Chiefs offense to struggle against a tough, physical defense. Quarterback Matt Cassel does not have the playmakers around him to beat a Steelers defense loaded with tough veterans who will torture Kansas City, especially without their best wide receiver Dwayne Bowe. Expect a big day for the Steelers defense in Week 11 and be worthy of the high pick you used on them.

2. (New Orleans Saints) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Saints may not have played like you would expect against the St. Louis Rams, but remember they were without some of their best players including safety Darren Sharper, defensive lineman Sedrick Ellis, and cornerback Tracy Porter was injured during the game. The numbers for New Orleans this year include giving up 343.0 yards and 21.9 points per game while adding 21 sacks and 25 turnovers. Even with rookie quarterback Josh Freeman playing well and giving the offense a bit of a boost, and some of the Saints players on defense being banged up, New Orleans defense should put up a great fantasy football day. Their aggressive style will prove too much for Freeman and it will result in big mistakes.
Bruno Boys Stars: * * * * *

3. (Cincinnati Bengals) @ Oakland Raiders

If the Bengals can hold down an explosive Pittsburgh Steelers offense and keep them out of the end zone, what do you think they will do against an offensively challenged Oakland Raiders team? Cincinnati should walk all over this pathetic offense, as they should limit their running game and force quarterback Bruce Gradkowski into numerous interceptions. While the Bruno Boys has this unit ranked 3rd, they could very well end up being the best play of the week. On the season, the Bengals have allowed 314.4 yards and 16.3 points per game while totaling 25 sacks and 15 turnovers.

4. (Arizona Cardinals) @ St. Louis Rams

A surprising 4th defense given a 5 star Bruno Boys ranking this week, but Arizona’s defense should also be in for a big day despite the St. Louis Rams offense finally putting some points on the board last week. Arizona’s defense has been playing like an average unit over the last three weeks, but now is the time you want to own the Cardinals defense until the end of the season. Arizona has two games with the Rams plus match ups with the Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and Tennessee Titans coming up. Hopefully you listened to us before when we said to grab them before others in your league caught on to their weak schedule and if you didn’t, you may want to find a roster spot for the Cardinals defense. On the year Arizona has given up 354.4 yards and 20.4 points per game with 25 sacks and 15 turnovers. Ignore the one good week by the Rams offense and grab the Cardinals defense this week and enjoy the big point total.
Bruno Boys Stars: * * * * *

5. (Philadelphia Eagles) @ Chicago Bears

Just so you know, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler likes throwing the ball to the other teams just about as much as his own. Whilethe Philadelphia Eagles may have some injuries to their secondary, but you can expect the Eagles to create pressure and confusion to force at least a couple turnovers. This year Philadelphia has allowed 307.4 yards and 20.4 points per game while adding 29 sacks and 22 turnovers. The Bears offense has yet to find any kind of identity, which is evident by the mistakes made by Cutler. The Eagles will take advantage of any shortcomings by Chicago and put up a solid fantasy day in Week 11.
Bruno Boys Stars: * * * *

6. (Dallas Cowboys) vs. Washington Redskins

The Dallas Cowboys defense has the talent to be rated high all season long. Last week may they showed they can play, as the Green Bay Packers were not scoring in bunches like their used to doing. On the other side, the Washington Redskins may have finally found something on offense, as the team was able to move the ball down the field on a good Denver Broncos defense. To us, it was an aberration, and the Dallas Cowboys will be the better unit in this match up. Throughout the season Dallas has given up 330.6 yards and 18.8 points per game while totaling 24 sacks and 11 turnovers. Believe it or not, but you can trust the Cowboys defense to provide enough fantasy football points to be a solid start for your team.

7. (Green Bay Packers) vs. San Francisco 49ers

Here’s a bit of a surprise in case you missed it this past week, the Green Bay Packers defense only gave up 7 points to a potent Dallas Cowboys offense. After seeing that, and the fact the San Francisco 49ers offense could only muster 10 points last Thursday, means Green Bay looks like a solid start for Week 11. This year the Packers have allowed 282.3 yards and 19.9 points per game with 18 sacks and 21 turnovers. After playing so poorly against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Green Bay should have given you enough hope to have faith in their defense, especially against a weak offensive opponent. Have no worries in playing this unit against the 49ers.
Bruno Boys Stars: * * * *

8. (Minnesota Vikings) vs. Seattle Seahawks

This game is very simple. Minnesota is the best team in sacks per game and they face a Seattle Seahawks offense that can’t block anyone along the line. The Vikings will be all over quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and it will be a long day for the former All-Pro. This year Minnesota has given up 328.7 yards and 20.4 points per game while adding 34 sacks and 14 turnovers. Even with the playmakers Seattle has on offense, the Vikings should be able to apply enough pressure to force Hasselbeck to make quick decisions. Expect a big sack total for the Vikings defense, which will result in a big fantasy day.

9. (New York Giants) vs. Atlanta Falcons

Given the week off thanks to their bye, the New York Giants will look to turnaround their latest four game losing streak and get back into the playoff hunt. While the offense has struggled for the Giants, it’s the defense that will get things turned around. They’re really missing safety Kenny Phillips but the return of cornerback Aaron Ross will strengthen the secondary and could make the difference for this team. This year New York has allowed 274.4 yards and 22.7 points per game with 20 sacks and 17 turnovers. With the Atlanta Falcons likely without star running back Michael Turner, it will give the Giants the opportunity to throw a ton of different disguises and drop extra men in coverage against the Falcons, which could result in turnovers by quarterback Matt Ryan.

10. (Denver Broncos) vs. San Diego Chargers

The Denver Broncos defense doesn’t seem to be the same unit it was just a few weeks ago after giving up big games to the like of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Redskins and their ground games. Why have faith in this unit against a potent San Diego Chargers offense? Their secondary is still solid and the Chargers have struggled to run the ball all season long. Really there aren’t a lot of better options below Denver and their defense has shown in the past they can put up solid games. This year the Broncos have given up 292.2 yards and 16.8 points per game while adding 29 sacks and 18 turnovers.

11. (New England Patriots) vs. New York Jets

The New England Patriots defense may have allowed 35 points to the Indianapolis Colts team this past week but let’s face it, we knew it was coming. A shootout was bound to happen when the best two quarterbacks in all of football squared off on Sunday night football. This week the Patriots should get back to what they are, an average defense. The New York Jets offense has struggled of late and quarterback Mark Sanchez has played like a rookie to date. New England should be able to do enough to warrant a start in deeper leagues in Week 11. Through 10 weeks, the Patriots have allowed 304.6 yards and 16.7 points per game while totaling 16 sacks and 17 turnovers.

12. (Miami Dolphins) @ Carolina Panthers   **THURSDAY NIGHT GAMES**

Think about the strengths and weaknesses of both of these opponents in this match up and it will make you realize the Miami Dolphins defense has pretty good upside this week. The Dolphins main strength on defense is against the run, where it happens to be the Carolina Panthers strength. Most opposing offenses attack Miami through the air and try to pick on their young, inexperienced secondary. With turnover machine Jake Delhomme behind center, that kind of weakness may not be exposed. It will be interesting to see what kind of game plan Carolina comes out with, but considering the talented run stoppers the Dolphins have, it’s worth a play to see how it turns out. On the year Miami has given up 337.0 yards and 25.2 points per game with 24 sacks and 12 turnovers.

13. (San Francisco 49ers) @ Green Bay Packers

The San Francisco 49ers defense put on a heck of a performance last Thursday, intercepting quarterback Jay Cutler of the Chicago Bears five times en route to a dominating performance. Now they get to take on a Green Bay Packers offense that got manhandled by the Dallas Cowboys defense. Green Bay’s front line is terrible and quarterback Aaron Rodgers simply doesn’t have time to find his weapons downfield. If you’re San Francisco this week, you need to dial up the pressure and force Rodgers to make difficult throws into your improving secondary. This season the 49ers have allowed 336.0 yards and 20.0 points per game while adding 17 sacks and 15 turnovers. If the 49ers had a true pass rusher they would be a better play but their 17 sacks is not encouraging, even against a Packers team that leads the NFL in sacks allowed.

14. (New York Jets) @ New England Patriots

What everyone remembers from the last time these two teams met back in September was New York getting constant pressure on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots struggling to find any kind of rhythm on offense. What some don’t realize though is that the Jets defense only scored six points in standard leagues, or in other words an average fantasy day. Since that Week 2 meeting, New England’s offense seems to be playing at a much higher level while the New York defense is not the same as it was once. Their pressures simply aren’t there and the sack numbers prove it. They miss the anchor in the middle of their defense, nose tackle Kris Jenkins, who if nothing else could take on two blockers to free up a linebacker. This year the Jets have given up 281.6 yards and 17.6 points per game with 16 sacks and 16 turnovers.
Bruno Boys Stars: * * *

15. (Buffalo Bills) @ Jacksonville Jaguars

Ignore the numbers of the Buffalo Bills in terms of yards allowed (373.0) and points allowed (23.3) per game. Their sack numbers are below average at 17 but the key to them being even a decent play some weeks is their 19 turnovers created. Although the Jacksonville Jaguars do possess the ability to score with the electrifying Maurice Jones-Drew, their quarterback David Garrard can have really bad games when he gets away from the running game. Garrard will throw to a ball hawking secondary of the Bills, which will add to their solid turnover numbers that have produced quality outings on the fantasy end from time to time this season.
Bruno Boys Stars: * * *

16. (Chicago Bears) vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Despite the loss, the Chicago Bears defense was able to rebound from their sorry performance against the Arizona Cardinals to put up an above average fantasy day against the San Francisco 49ers. This week doesn’t look so promising though, as the Philadelphia Eagles come to town looking to get points on the board in a hurry so they will not have to play catch up like they did against the San Diego Chargers a week ago. Chicago could very well put up an average day, thus the ranking here, but remember that there isn’t a whole lot of upside in starting this unit. If there are better options out there, by all means don’t fret about putting the Chicago defense on the bench. This season the Bears have given up 313.8 yards and 22.3 points per game with 18 sacks and 15 turnovers.
