QUARTERBACKS — CUT THEM LOOSE
Kyle Orton (Denver Broncos)
Yes, Kyle Orton managed 15 fantasy points in less than a half of play on Sunday, throwing for 193 yards and 2 TDs against the Washington Redskins. Fantasy owners, though, need to be aware that Orton’s day ended early because the quarterback suffered an ankle injury. The length Orton will be out due to the injury is unknown. What is known is that Orton suffered a similar injury last season while playing for the Chicago Bears. The injury may have only kept Orton out one contest last year, but his play was never the same upon his return. In the seven games Orton played following the injury, he completed just 54.7% of his passes for a total of 1,195 passing yards (170.7 passing yards per game) and 8 TDs to 8 INTs. Only time will tell if this ankle injury impacts Orton in the same way, but with five of the seven remaining teams the Broncos will face ranking in the top-13 against the pass, we’re not going to sit around and find out. Be proactive and look for a more reliable option for your back-up QB down the stretch.
Keep Them Cut - JaMarcus Russell (Oakland Raiders), Jason Campbell (Washington Redskins), Matthew Stafford (Detroit Lions), Derek Anderson (Cleveland Browns), Trent Edwards (Buffalo Bills), Kerry Collins (Tennessee Titans), Shaun Hill (San Francisco 49ers)
RUNNING BACKS — CUT THEM LOOSE
Correll Buckhalter (Denver Broncos)
Early in the season Buckhalter was a worthy flex option as the Denver Broncos utilized him often as a change of pace back to rookie running back, Knowshon Moreno. In fact, Buckhalter had a three game stretch from week two to week four in which he posted 8+ fantasy points in each contest. However, with the season more than half way gone, Moreno has placed a firm grasp around the team’s RB1 duties, and with his limited touches, Buckhalter is no longer posting the big play as he did during the start of the season. The result has been a mere 11 fantasy points over his last four games. The -1 point he put up in week ten definitely did not help his cause. Buckhalter’s play has declined to the point to where fantasy owners can feel alright about letting him go.
Julius Jones (Seattle Seahawks)
With his inconsistent production throughout the season, it seemed to be only a matter of time before Jones appeared on this list. However, following his 16 point outing in week nine, in which he totaled 114 total yards and a TD, it appeared that Jones would stave off the dire “Cut Them Loose” listing at least for another week or two. A chest injury, though, has changed all that. The injury occurred after Jones carried the ball two times for 10 yards this past Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals; however, it alone is not what warrants cutting Jones. With Jones averaging just 3.6 yards per carry, the back was already in jeopardy of losing carries to back-up Justin Forsett, who replaced Jones on Sunday. Forsett took the advantage of the opportunity presented to him, going for 123 rush yards on 17 carries in addition to a rushing score. The outing should be enough to earn Forsett a chance to start from here on out.
Keep Them Cut - Darren Sproles (San Diego Chargers), Mike Bell (New Orleans Saints), Willis McGahee (Baltimore Ravens), Jerome Harrison (Cleveland Browns), Fred Jackson (Buffalo Bills), LenDale White (Tennessee Titans)

The Tank,
In writing this column, I seriously thought about putting Greg Jennings on the Cut Them Loose list; however, I decided against it. While Jennings is no longer a must start, I still thinks he holds enough value to warrant a roster spot simply due to his potential.
