2009 Fantasy Football Draft Sheet

13. Kurt Warner (Arizona Cardinals) @ New York Giants

The last two weeks Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner has thrown four touchdowns with just one interception and in watching the Cardinals offense it appears they’re getting close to their 2008 form. Despite getting torched by Drew Brees in Week 6 th New York Giants are still first in the league in passing yards allowed but just 17th in points allowed. Even if the Cardinals lose this game Warner will still be able to reach his average of 15 fantasy football points per game.
Point Projection: 15 points

14. Carson Palmer (Cincinnati Bengals) vs. Chicago

The Chicago Bears defense has been decent this season but injuries along the defensive line and at linebacker have forced a lot of shuffling around and their pass defense was exposed last week by Matt Ryan and the Falcons. Aside from the first week of the season Cincinnati quarterback Carson Palmer has posted double digit fantasy performances in every game and there’s no reason to think he’ll deviate from that this week against a reeling Bears defense.
Point Projection: 14 points

15. Tony Romo (Dallas Cowboys) vs. Atlanta

It’s been feast or famine for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo as he’s had two 20-point performances but also two single-digit games as well. The Cowboys are coming off a bye after an impressive performance by Romo and wide receiver Miles Austin in Week 5. However points may be a bit limited this week as the Cowboys will host the Falcons, who are fourth in the league in points allowed.
Point Projection: 14 points

16. Shaun Hill (San Francisco 49ers) @ Houston

It’s never pretty but most of the time San Francisco quarterback Shaun Hill gets it done, at least from an NFL standpoint, as he’s thrown four touchdowns and two interceptions in the last three games. Houston’s defense hasn’t been too good this season except for last week in the win over the Cincinnati Bengals so expect another serviceable, but not good, performance from Hill in Week 7. Consider him a borderline start in a 12-team league and a must play in a start two QB league.
Point Projection: 11 points

17. Mark Sanchez (New York Jets) @ Oakland

With just 119 yards and five interceptions last week New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez had his worst game to date. The rookie will see a few more days like this but it won’t be this week when the Jets travel to Oakland. The Raiders were solid last week but that’s partially because the Eagles completely abandoned the running game and couldn’t finish off drives (5 field goal attempts). Don’t expect Sanchez to have a big game, but we guarantee you he won’t play as poorly as he did last week.
Point Projection: 10 points

18. Matt Cassel (Kansas City) vs. San Diego

Coming off his best game of the season in a loss to the Dallas Cowboys two weeks ago Kansas City quarterback Matt Cassel had a dud of a performance last week against the Washington Redskins. The first year Chiefs signal caller had just 186 yards and completed just 17 of his 32 passes. Don’t expect much improvement this week against a San Diego defense that shouldn’t have much trouble creating pressure on Cassel and shutting down the lackluster corps of Chiefs receivers.
Point Projection: 10 points

19. Jake Delhomme (Carolina Panthers) vs. Buffalo

Like the end of last season the Carolina Panthers have realized that they’re a pretty good team when they run the ball a lot and don’t ask much of quarterback Jake Delhomme. With the Panthers expected to run the ball over 40 times this week Delhomme won’t have many opportunities to make plays. Depending on how you look at it that can be a bad or a good thing, but either way Delhomme is not the best of plays this week.
Point Projection: 8 points

20. JaMarcus Russell (Oakland Raiders) vs. New York Jets

Even in the Raiders’ wins this season JaMarcus Russell hasn’t put up anything resembling respectable fantasy football numbers and has yet to break double digits in a game this season. Don’t expect anything different this week as the New York Jets are in the top ten in the NFL in passing yards allowed and points allowed.
Point Projection: 7 points

21. Marc Bulger (St. Louis Rams) vs. Indianapolis

Everybody knows how good the Indianapolis Colts offense has been but not many haven taken notice of their defense. In case you weren’t aware the Indianapolis defense is in the top 10 in passing yards allowed, total yards allowed and the Colts are second in points allowed. The Rams continue to struggle on offense so don’t expect much from quarterback Marc Bulger in this one. The only thing he’s got going for him is that St. Louis is expected to be trailing throughout the game so Bulger will have to throw often while playing catch-up.
Point Projection: 7 points

22. Derek Anderson (Cleveland Browns) vs. Green Bay

Is the switch at quarterback going well for the Browns? Well, Derek Anderson is completing 44 percent of his passes with two touchdowns and six interceptions. Brady Quinn wasn’t good, but he was better than that. Either way, don’t expect Anderson to suddenly breakout in this game - especially after Green Bay just shutout the Detriot Lions in Week 6.
Point Projection: 7 points

23. Josh Johnson (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) vs. New England  *At Wembley Stadium - London*

The quarterback positions hasn’t been too bad for the Buccaneers this season and despite the fact Josh Johnson is just buying time for Josh Freeman to get game ready he has been serviceable. Outside of fumbling the ball five times last week Johnson has 30 fantasy points in his three starts and has hit double-digit points in two of those three games. The Patriots prey on young and inexperienced quarterbacks like Johnson so expect a bad week for the second-year player.
Point Projection: 7 points

24. Chad Henne (Miami Dolphins) vs. New Orleans

Miami quarterback Chad Henne looked great in his start last week against the New York Jets but a solid running game and some well-designed playcalling took a lot of pressure off of him. The New Orleans Saints defense is vastly improved this season and they are good at intercepting the ball. Bottom line, if you have a better option use it because Henne is likely to experience some growing pains in this matchup.
Point Projection: 7 points

25. Ryan Fitzpatrick / Trent Edwards (Buffalo Bills) @ Carolina

Ryan Fitzpatrick took over at quarterback for Trent Edwards last week as Edwards left the game with a concussion, his second in the last two years. Edwards is listed as day-to-day but it would be a big surprise if he played this week. After Fitzpatrick came in he completed just 10 of 25 passes, and seeing how poorly he played for the Cincinnati Bengals last year there’s no way you can expect much of anything out of him.
Point Projection: 6 points

26. Jason Campbell (Washington Redskins) vs. Philadelphia

Things are a mess in Washington. Head coach Jim Zorn has been relieved of his playcalling duties and quarterback Jason Campbell was pulled from the game last week for not playing well. The Philadelphia Eagles have one of the best defenses in the league and the Redskins have one of the worst offenses. Really, there’s not more much to say about this matchup.
Point Projection: 5 points

WEEK 7 BYE WEEK QUARTERBACKS

Kerry Collins (Tennessee Titans) - After starting the season 0-6 the Titans are searching for some answers. After quarterback Kerry Collins completed just two passes for -7 yards, we could start to see some more Vince Young in the very near future.

Daunte Culpepper / Matthew Stafford / Drew Stanton (Detroit Lions) - Starting quarterback (due to an injury to Matthew Stafford) Daunte Culpepper suffered a slight pull of the hamstring in the Detroit Lions loss to the Green Bay Packers last week. With the Lions on bye, he should be able to return next week. If he’s unable to do so then Drew Stanton, the teams third stringer, will get the nod at quarterback.

Joe Flacco (Baltimore Ravens) - The only game Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco didn’t have a solid or better fantasy football performance in was the loss to the Cincinnati Bengals two weeks ago. In just his second year Flacco has arrived as a legit fantasy football quarterback.

David Garrard (Jacksonville Jaguars) - Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback David Garrard has been a little inconsistent this season but after the bye week he has some favorable matchups, including Tennessee in Week eight and Kansas City in Week nine.

Matt Hasselbeck (Seattle Seahawks) - A terrible performance last week against the Arizona Cardinals was likely caused by a porous offenisve line that allowed Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck to be sacked five times. Seattle will need to address that area this week if Hasselbeck is to have consistent success this season.

Kyle Orton (Denver Broncos)  - Not only are the Denver Broncos proving a lot of people wrong but quarterback Kyle Orton is also changing a lot of people’s opinions of him. The signal caller has thrown at least one touchdown (nine total) in all six games and has been picked off just once. Orton is the ninth rated fantasy QB to date and should be owned in all leagues.
