2009 Fantasy Football Draft Sheet
2009 Fantasy Football Draft Sheet

We’re heading into the mid-season and we here at Bruno Boys hope your fantasy football team is in championship form. Of course if it is not, we’re here to help and this week’s Fantasy Football Week 8 Waiver Wire advice article is no exception. There are no quarterback’s on this week’s list because nobody that’s generally available had a good game. However if Alex Smith, who replaced an ineffective Shaun Hill for the San Francisco 49ers last week, plays more like he did against the Houston Texans then he’ll find himself on this list very quickly. Similar to last week there are no kickers on this list but if you wanted to play matchups in Week 8 some good candidates to consider would be Josh Scobee of the Jacksonville Jaguars against the Tennessee Titans, Robbie Gould of the Chicago Bears against the Cleveland Browns and Jason Hanson of the Detroit Lions against the St. Louis Rams. Now it’s time to check out the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 8 Waiver Wire - Pick Them Up article.

Note: If you’re debating on who to drop to pick these guys up, you should be checking out the Bruno Boys’ article, Fantasy Football Week 8 Waiver Wire - Cut Them Loose and see if anyone on your roster is a Bruno Boys’ recommendation to drop. And, remember you can always visit our FORUMS to get your questions answered about waiver wire candidates, players to drop or anything at all related to fantasy football.

RUNNING BACKS — PICK THEM UP

Shonn Greene (New York Jets)

The New York Jets wanted to ease running back Shonn Greene into the offense slowly, but after his performance against the Oakland Raiders last week it appears he got a crash course. In the win over the Raiders, Greene rushed 19 times for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Thomas Jones owners shouldn’t be too concerned yet - Jones rushed for 26 times for 121 yards and a touchdown - but now that Greene has proven himself it’s likely he’ll continue to see regular touches, especially with Leon Washington breaking his fibula and being out for the season. We expect Greene to get around 10-15 carries a game from here on out, making a him a solid pick up in any size league.

Felix Jones (Dallas Cowboys)

Dallas Cowboys running back Felix Jones is back from his knee injury and it’s clear the team wants to get him involved in the offense like he was before he got hurt. Last week in a win over the Atlanta Falcons, Jones had 37 yards on eight carries and caught two passes for six yards. Tashard Choice, who filled in at running back Jones while he was hurt, did not carry the ball once in that game. Expect Jones to see between 10-15 touches the rest of the season, though that number would rise considerably if starter Marion Barber isn’t able to remain healthy. This makes him a good option to pick up in any league.

Jason Snelling (Atlanta Falcons)

Jason Snelling of the Atlanta Falcons is listed as a running back but really he’s more of an H-back. The team brings him to help block on passing downs and occasionally uses him as a receiver, typically on screens or swing passes. Snelling has had a few productive games from a fantasy football perspective, including in last week’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys where he ran the ball seven times for 68 yards and caught a pass for 10 yards. He has proven he can be an asset on offense but behind Michael Turner, Roddy White, Michael Jenkins and Tony Gonzalez, Snelling tends to get lost in the shuffle. For this he should only be looked at in the deepest of leagues.

WIDE RECEIVERS — PICK THEM UP

Michael Crabtree (San Francisco 49ers)

After finally ending his holdout San Francisco wide receiver Michael Crabtree got his first start a week later against the Texans. In that game Crabtree showed no signs that the long holdout affected him as he caught five passes for 56 yards. Crabtree will continue to start, which means he’ll continue get his fair share of receptions. Remember he is a rookie and that means he’ll go through his fair share of struggles at times so he should only be considered in deeper leagues or for bench duty in standard size leagues.

Tata - It really depends on what you need more and who you would be trading.

For us to best answer your question we would need to know your entire roster to see if the trade is worth your while.

Hope you had a great showing in Week 8.
