Throughout the off-season, the Bruno Boys peered into their Crystal Ball to provide you out there in Bruno Boys Nation with a look into what the future held for specific players for the 2009 season. Now, we shift our focus and utilize our psychic powers to provide you with a breakdown of all the NFL games on the docket for this Week 15 of football action as Bruno Boys Kyle presents the Week 15 - Game Previews (Fantasy Style).
Dallas Cowboys @ New Orleans Saints: The Saints look to remain undefeated with a Saturday night tilt against the Cowboys and their December allergies. This has the makings of a highly entertaining game with Drew Brees and Tony Romo in a shootout. Fantasy Prediction: Three players get at least 100 receiving yards – Marques Colston, Miles Austin and Jason Witten.
New England Patriots @ Buffalo Bills:There’s a bit of turmoil in Belichickville, with the head coach sending some players home for being late to a meeting on a snowy day last week. That may have led to Randy Moss looking as bored as a kindergartner at a showing of Macbeth last week against the Panthers. The Bills aren’t likely to offer much resistance to New England, though, not with the worst run defense in the NFL. Fantasy Prediction: Laurence Maroney has his second 100-yard rushing game of the season.
Arizona Cardinals @ Detroit Lions: Detroit has the worst pass defense in football, while the Cardinals have one of the best passing offenses in the league, and are coming off a bizarre seven-turnover loss to the 49ers. This one could sting. Fantasy Prediction: Kurt Warner throws three touchdown passes for the second time in three weeks.
Miami Dolphins @ Tennessee Titans: Both teams need wins to increase their chances of getting into the postseason, as Miami is 7-6 on the year and the Titans are 6-7 after starting 0-5. Passing may be the way to the win, as neither of these teams are in the top-third of the league in pass defense. Fantasy Prediction: Chad Henne will throw for over 250 yards and two scores for the second time in his career.
Cleveland Browns @ Kansas City Chiefs: Yikes. This game could be less than pretty. Then again, maybe we should give these teams the benefit of the doubt because Cleveland and Detroit played one of the most exciting games of the year a few weeks back. But can you really see something like that happening again? Fantasy Prediction: Combined, Brady Quinn and Matt Cassel fail to amass 300 passing yards.
Houston Texans @ St. Louis Rams: The Rams were stomped by an AFC South team last week, the Titans, by the score of 47-7. Similarly, Houston beat an NFC West team, Seattle, 34-7, behind nearly 200 receiving yards by Andre Johnson. See something of a pattern here? Fantasy Prediction: Johnson goes off for another 130 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Atlanta Falcons @ New York Jets: This is another game featuring two teams that desperately need wins to advance their playoff aspirations. It’s also two teams with contrasting defenses, with the Falcons a weak unit and the Jets a more formidable unit. The more formidable unit has a leg up. Fantasy Prediction: Roddy White scores a touchdown, but is otherwise held to fewer than 30 receiving yards by Darrelle Revis.
San Francisco 49ers @ Philadelphia Eagles: The 49ers caused seven turnovers by the Arizona Cardinals on Monday and won, but should a team with that many possessions score more than 23 points? Philly had no problem scoring in their win over the Giants last week, which tends to happen when you have a receiver gain 178 receiving yards, like DeSean Jackson did. Fantasy Prediction: The Niners keep Jackson under 100 receiving yards, but still cede a touchdown to him.
Chicago Bears @ Baltimore Ravens: Jay Cutler threw two more interceptions last week against the Packers, because that’s his thing. He’s the Interception Guy. That’s not a great thing to be, but that’s where he’s at in this stage of his career. And that’s bad considering he’s facing the Ravens this week, who are sixth in the NFL in interceptions this year. Fantasy Prediction: Cutler throws not one, not two, but three more picks.
Cincinnati Bengals @ San Diego Chargers: It’s been an oddly successful year for the Bengals, not only because they’re winning, but how they’re winning – with defense. Carson Palmer has thrown for fewer than 200 yards in three of his last five games, and he’s just not been producing like he has in past years. He’ll be challenged this week against a Chargers team that is 10th in the league in pass defense. Fantasy Prediction: Palmer throws for fewer than 200 yards yet again.
Oakland Raiders @ Denver Broncos: Brandon Marshall set an NFL record with 21 receptions last week against the Colts, and he’s been hot recently. Over his last six games, he’s amassed at least five receptions and 85 receiving yards five times. Fantasy Prediction: Nnamdi Asomugha can’t stop Marshall, who goes for 120 yards and one touchdown.
Green Bay Packers @ Pittsburgh Steelers: Pittsburgh is absolutely reeling, losing to the dregs of the league like the Chiefs, Raiders and Browns. On the other hand, Green Bay is rolling, having won their last five games. Pittsburgh will bounce back at some point, right? Won’t they? Hello? Fantasy Prediction: Ryan Grant fails to run for 70 yards and his owners hope a short yardage touchdown bails them out.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Seattle Sehawks: Buccaneers rookie quarterback Josh Freeman has had a difficult time recently, to say the least. He has thrown eight interceptions and zero touchdowns over his last two games. His problem coming out of Kansas State last season was his accuracy, and we’ve seen that problem in the NFL. Luckily for him, the Seahawks are terrible in pass defense, so even though he’s going to continue to get picked off, he’ll also have a modicum of success. Fantasy Prediction: Freeman throws two more interceptions, but also one touchdown for the first time in two games.
Minnesota Vikings @ Carolina Panthers: Some Carolina players decided to talk about how bad Randy Moss was last week, and even though it was true, they had just lost the game, as Bill Belichick so deftly pointed out in a press conference. Don’t expect them to be talking this week, after yet another loss. Fantasy Prediction: Adrian Peterson runs for over 100 yards for the first time since Week 10.
New York Giants @ Washington Redskins: The Giants are sort of the Pittsburgh of the NFC; after starting 5-0, they are now 7-6 and may miss the playoffs. And even though the Redskins aren’t even close to the playoffs, they may have unearthed a gem in tight end Fred Davis, who has scored four times in the last three weeks and has a beautiful match-up this week. Fantasy Prediction: Davis scores for the fourth game in a row.
