2009 Fantasy Football Draft Sheet

Cincinnati Bengals

1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)

QB – 18.6 (25th) | 12.3 (5th) | -6.3

WR – 16.9 (18th) | 14.3 (10th) | -2.6

RB – 20.6 (30th) | 9.2 (1st) | -11.4

Palmer had one of the tougher schedules but still put up good numbers. Look for those statistics to increase with one of the easier schedules at the quarterback position. Only Detroit and Cleveland had tougher RB schedules than Benson and the Bengals in the first half of the season. However, Benson went on a tear. Going forward, he has by far the most generous schedule for an RB. The sky is the limit for this guy. Congratulations if you have him. If you don’t, good luck trying to get him. Ochocinco’s numbers should increase as well with the Bengals’ having some favorable match-ups moving forward..

Target – QB Palmer, WR Ochocinco, RB Benson

Take a Chance On – WR Caldwell

Cleveland Browns

1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)

QB – 17 (18th) | 13 (8th) | -4

WR – 18.5 (25th) | 15 (13th) | -3.5

RB – 23.4 (32nd) | 13.5 (6th) | -9.9

Cleveland faced a tough schedule through the first half of the season but it’s about to get a lot easier. Lewis and Harrison had the toughest schedule for RBs and both showed flashes in easy matchups early on. Both could be great second-half sleepers but it’s tough to put trust into a Cleveland Browns skill player. Massaquoi and Cribbs could be worth a look. Cribbs is especially interesting in leagues that have a flex spot and reward points for return yardage.

Be Patient With – RB Lewis, WR Massaquoi

Take a Chance On – RB Harrison, WR Cribbs

Dallas Cowboys

1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)

QB – 16.3 (13th) | 25.5 (32nd) | 9.2

WR – 15.4 (11th) | 21.7 (31st) | 6.3

RB – 13.7 (5th) | 16.2 (16th) | 2.5

The Cowboys had a relatively easy schedule across the board yet they struggled to get going out of the gate. No NFL quarterback has a tougher schedule moving forward than Romo but he seems to be playing at the highest level of his career right now and should get his fantasy football points. Perhaps trade Romo while he’s hot and get a QB with a favorable schedule in return. Austin, Williams, and Witten also face a considerably tougher schedule. Your best bet is to keep your expectations low with any Cowboys skill players.

Trade – QB Romo, WR Austin

Be Patient With – WR Williams, RB Barber, TE Witten

Denver Broncos

1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)

QB – 16.9 (16th) | 20.3 (24th) | 3.4

WR – 16.7 (17th) | 21.7 (29th) | 5

RB – 14.6 (10th) | 11.7 (3rd) | -2.9

The Broncos’ schedule was middle of the road during the first half of the season and they produced fairly well. It’s probably best not to rely on Orton as a starting fantasy QB moving forward. He makes good decisions but doesn’t post big-time statistics. Marshall has looked like he has been coming on but they were doing so in favorable matchups. Based on matchups it’s unlikely that Marshall will be a standout for the remainder of the season but he still has enough value to be used as a WR2 most weeks. Buckhalter and Moreno are in line for better numbers but they are in time share. Both should make good flex plays or low-end RB2s with Moreno having more upside.

Be Patient With – WR Marshall

Take a Chance On – RB Moreno, RB Buckhalter

Detroit Lions

1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)

QB – 17.1 (21st) | 13.3 (9th) | -3.8

WR – 16.9 (19th) | 11 (5th) | -5.9

RB – 22.7 (31st) | 19.8 (27th) | -2.9

Now may be the time to buy low on some Lions. Calvin Johnson is line for big numbers and current owners my be impatient. Despite having the second-toughest schedule to date, Kevin Smith is still 21st among RBs in fantasy football points per game. He still has a tough schedule moving forward but Smith should continue to see 18-22 touches per game and produce at a level that makes him worthy of a steady second half. Keep and eye on Stafford in leagues that start two QBs.

Target – WR C.Johnson

Be Patient With – RB Smith

Take a Chance On – WR B.Johnson, TE Pettigrew

Green Bay Packers

1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)

QB – 8.1 (1st) | 13.7 (10th) | 5.6

WR – 14 (9th) | 10.8 (4th) | -3.2

RB – 16.4 (19th) | 18.3 (23rd) | 1.9

Rodgers had the most generous schedule for QBs from Week 1-8 and he made the most of it. He currently leads QBs in fantasy football points and should finish in the top five. Driver has also been very productive while Jennings has been quiet to date. If you are wise you would try and target Jennings right now. Jennings has had two good weeks in a row (Week 7 and Week 8) but current owners may still have their doubts. Offer someone like Brandon Marshall who has a tough schedule ahead. Expect RB Grant’s number to stay the same. He’s a good RB2.

Target – WR Driver, WR Jennings

Be Patient With – RB Grant

Take a Chance On – TE Finley

Houston Texans

1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)

QB – 15.4 (9th) | 12 (3rd) | -3.4

WR – 14.5 (10th) | 12.3 (8th) | -2.2

RB – 14 (6th) | 15.7 (13th) | 1.7

Schaub had a tougher schedule than Roethlisberger and Manning but he’s only he’s behind them by less than 1 fantasy point per game. He should easily finish in the top 5 as he faces the 3rd most favorable schedule for a QB. He also has one of the best playoff matchups. Johnson and Walter’s numbers should see an increase as well. Slaton and Moats face a tougher schedule but both should have decent production. Monitor the time share, though.

Be Patient With – WR Walter, RB Slaton

Take a Chance On – RB Moats, TE Dreessen

Indianapolis Colts

1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)

QB – 10.3 (3rd) | 17.8 (18th) | 7.5

WR – 9.4 (1st) | 15.8 (14th) | 6.4

RB – 14.7 (11th) | 18.7 (24th) | 4

Week in and week out the Colts’ skill players have taken full advantage of a favorable schedule. Manning, Wayne, and Clark all rank in the top 4 in points per game at their positions and Addai is ranked 14th among RBs. Based on their schedule moving forward they’re all in line for a drop in production but it’s hard to imagine everyone except Addai to finish outside of the top 5. Now may be the time to package Addai with someone and upgrade at RB. Maybe you could get someone like Ronnie Brown or Thomas Jones in return.

Trade – RB Addai

Be Patient With – WR Garcon, WR Collie

Jacksonville Jaguars
1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)

QB – 14 (7th) | 21.3 (29th) | 7.3

WR – 11.6 (3rd) | 22.2 (32nd) | 10.6

RB – 13.3 (4th) | 16.8 (20th) | 3.5

There will be a big increase in strength and schedule across the board for the Jaguars. Mike Sims-Walker has made the most of an favorable schedule and currently ranks 11th in fantasy football points per game among WRs. However, the Jaguars WRs face the stingiest schedule for WRs in the second half including brutal playoff match-ups. Now may be the time to sell high on MSW. MJD also had a favorable schedule and ranks 1st among RBs. It gets tougher but he’ll be the focal point of the offense and should continue to stay amongst the top 5 running backs. Keep expectations low for Garrard.

Trade – WR Mike Sims-Walker

Be Patient With – RB Jones-Drew

Kansas City Chiefs

1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)

QB – 20.4 (29th) | 20.5 (28th) | 0.1

WR – 20.4 (28th) | 21.3 (25th) | 0.9

RB – 16.3 (18th) | 16 (15th) | -0.3

Cassel should only be considered as a low-end QB2 in two QB leagues. Bowe’s schedule gets a little tougher but he should still produce as he is one of the most consistent receivers in fantasy football. The addition of Chambers should open things up a bit but he is an aging veteran. Charles is in an interesting situation. If he gets as many carries as LJ was getting, he has a chance to put up decent numbers. He also receives targets in the passing game. He could make a nice flex start in deeper leagues when the match-up is right.

Be Patient With – WR Bowe

Take a Chance On – RB Charles, RB Smith

Miami Dolphins

1st Half SoS | Remaining SoS | (+/-)

QB – 26.1 (32nd) | 18 (19th) | -8.1

WR – 25 (32nd) | 18.8 (21st) | -6.2

RB – 15.6 (15th) | 11.5 (2nd) | -4.1

The future is bright for all the Dolphins (even Brown and Williams if you can imagine that.) The QBs and WRs faced the stingiest schedule in the league over the first eight weeks, which may be the reason that the Dolphins have run the ball so much. Since there are no real superstars at WR, I’m not sure any of them should be considered unless the league is really deep. Ginn Jr. could be worth a shot in leagues that award points for return yardage. Henne could also become a viable QB2 in two QB leagues. It’s amazing that Brown and Williams rank 11th and 12th respectively in fantasy points per game. Look for them both to finish in the top 15 as they face the 2nd most generous schedule against the rush going forward. You may be able to trade for Williams but it is unlikely that someone will give up Brown at this point, though it’s worth a shot though.

Target – RB Brown, RB Williams

Take a Chance On – WR Ginn, WR Camarillo
