2009 Fantasy Football Draft Sheet

New England Patriots 35 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars 7
I think everything’s cool with Randy Moss. Tom Brady threw four touchdowns today, and three of them went to Moss. These guys helped your fantasy team win this week. Moss only had 45 receiving yards, but nobody’s complaining about three touchdowns. Sammy Morris rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown. Sounds like the Laurence Maroney gravy train just stopped running. Maroney only had 22 yards rushing. Wes Welker, who has been one of the most consistent wide receivers this season, did his usual 138 yards, but not TDs this week. Welker defended his title this season as the PPR king. David Garrard rushed for the Jacksonville Jaguars lone touchdown, and had 185 passing yards. Maurice Jones-Drew had 98 total yards.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20 at New Orleans Saints 17
Have the New Orleans Saints gone cold at the worst possible time? Drew Brees threw for just one touchdown with 258 yards passing. That’s two weeks in a row that Brees has seems mortal. Robert Meachem caught the lone TD pass, but Marques Colston led the Saints in receiving with 77 yards. Pierre Thomas had 60 yards rushing with a touchdown for a decent fantasy day. Cadillac Williams came to play today. A pretty inconsistent RB all season, Williams rattled off 129 yards rushing and a touchdown. Kellen Winslow had 76 yards receiving, but there wasn’t much going on with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers passing game today. They do have a rookie quarterback playing for them after all.

Carolina Panthers 41 @ New York Giants 9
The signs couldn’t have been any more blatant - start Jonathan Stewart. If you have him, I hope he was in your lineup because Stewart went off for 206 yards rushing and a touchdown. The good news is Steve Smith seems to love his new quarterback - Matt Moore. Smith scored again and had 60 yards receiving. The bad news is Smith broke his arm today. Good thing this week is the championship week. Moore threw three touchdowns today, and is quickly emerging as a possible QB2 next season. Time will tell what happens with this newcomer. An ugly game all around for the New York Giants, but Eli Manning threw for one score to Steve Smith. Manning had 296 passing yards with two interceptions, while Smith had 70 receiving yards, but Mario Manningham had 88 to lead the team. Brandon Jacobs had one yard rushing today and got hurt. That’s not a typo, one yard rushing. Jacobs’ run as a fantasy starter came to a crashing end this season. Ahmad Bradshaw had 53 yards rushing, but the Giants were forced to pass early and often.

San Francisco 49ers 20 vs. Detroit Lions 6
Alex Smith threw one touchdown pass in this game, and guess who it went to - Vernon Davis. Smith had 230 yards passing and no picks with the TD. It’s easy for Smith when he plays a weak defense. Frank Gore had anoter monster game this season, totaling 152 total yards and a TD. Gore proved once again why he is an elite RB1. Michael Crabtree had 68 yards passing and should be considered a strong WR3 next year. There were two fantasy relevant players on the Detroit Lions, as there pretty much has been all season. Calvin Johnson had 96 yards receiving and Maurice Morris rushed for 37 yards

Arizona Cardinals 31 vs. St. Louis Rams 7
In another lop-sided game this week, Kurt Warner and company shredded the St. Louis Rams this week. Warner threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns. Anquan Boldin had 116 yards receiving, but it was Larry Fitzgerald and Early Doucet who grabbed the touchdowns. Think hard about the future of Warner when you consider drafted Boldin and Fitz next season. Beanie Wells and Tim Hightower both found the endzone today, and Wells also had 68 rushing yards. He’s fully becoming the Arizona Cardinals’ feature back. With Steven Jackson a late scratch from the lineup, I’m guessing there were no Rams in any fantasy lineup today, unless you couldn’t take Jackson out. Brandon Gibson scored the Rams’ lone TD, but who is that guy, anyway?

New York Jets 29 @ Indianapolis Colts 15
The most controversial game of the week. I hope you didn’t need the Colts in your game this week, because they got a lot of bench time. Peyton Manning threw for 192 yards and no touchdowns. Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark totaled a combined 90 receiving yards between both fantasy studs. Austin Collie, however, had 94 receiving yards himself. Joseph Addai was able to score and finish with 40 yards. Donald Brown also got a TD this week, as well. As usual, Thomas Jones led the way for the New York Jets’ offense, finishing with 105 yards and a touchdown. Mark Sanchez only had 106 yards passing, and has clearly been playing like a rookie in the second half of this season.

Philadelphia Eagles 30 vs. Denver Broncos 27
DeSean Jackson finally got somewhat slowed down this week. Although he scored, he only had 33 yards receiving. It was Brent Celek who led the Philadelphia Eagles in receiving with 121 yards and a touchdown. Donovan McNabb had 322 yards passing with three touchdowns and one interception. It could have been a lot more if the Eagles’ offense didn’t sputter for most of the second half. In his return, Brian Westbrook only had 32 yards rushing. You can put him in the same garbage can with Brandon Jacobs. Kyle Orton also threw for three touchdowns to go with his 189 yards passing. Jabar Gaffney hauled in two of those scores with his 69 receiving yards. Brandon Marshall only had 39 receiving yards, hopefully you weren’t counting on him this week. Knowshon Moreno only had 35 total yards, but he did score once. Look for Moreno to be a nice RB2 next season. As long as Correll Buckhalter, who had 42 yards rushing today, doesn’t get in the way of that.

Dallas Cowboys 17 @ Washington Redskins 0
Marion Barber put together another decent game this week, rushing for 63 yards with a touchdown. Barber hasn’t been dominant by any means this season, but he’s had some solid weeks like this week. Barber also had 30 receiving yards. Felix Jones also rattled off 58 rushing yards. Jason Witten, who’s been quiet nearly all season, finally had a nice game thanks to his career-high 69-yard reception. Witten finished with 117 yards. Miles Austin put together a quiet 92 yards. Austin should make an excellent high-end WR2 next season. Tony Romo had 286 yards passing with a touchdown to Roy Williams. That was Williams’ only catch all night. He’s been a pretty big bust for the most part. Besides the 92 yards receiving from Santana Moss, there really isn’t much else to comment on with the Washington Redskins’ awful offense.
