What do you guys think…Playing in the championship game and with Brandon Marshall being benched I am in a tricky situation. In a 20 person league as you can imagine, there aren’t too many WR left to pick up.
I picked up Jabar Gaffney to fill Brandon Marshall’s slot but need to fill the other spot…
WR available:
Jerricho Cotchery
Devin Armashodu
Dion Branch
Mike Thomas
Mohamed Massaquoi
Thank you in advance for your help.
Fantasy Rookie
Things are never easy when fighting for a fantasy title, especially in a 20 team league. Tough blow regarding Marshall but you have some available options that should be serviceable. Now for a breakdown of what to do….
Stay off of MoMassaquoi and Thomas. There is heavy snow and high wins expected in Cleveland and this game should feature a lot of running plays. However, I like David Garrard, but think that MSW is the only Jaguars’ WR worth using. Also, stay away from Deion Branch. Seattle is likely to throw but Matt Hasselbeck has been throwing the ball to the wrong team more often than not. He has eight INTs over the last two games and will probably throw 2-3 more picks. Branch is in a bad offense that seems to have packed it in.
Your decision boils down to Cotchery and Aromashadu and in my opinion you roll with the hot hand and use the little known receiver out of Auburn. Aromashadu has 10 or more fantasy points in two of three games and seems to have built a great rapport with Jay Cutler. With the Bears taking on a Lions defense that ranks dead last in the NFL you have to imagine Aromashadu should be able to get open behind the Lions secondary and use his speed to make their defense miss. Look for him to be a solid yardage play and have a chance to score a TD. Thats all you can ask for when trying to replace a player due to injury. As for Cotchery, he hasn’t scored since Week 11 and has been on the receiving end of just 16 receptions over the last five games. Look for the Jets to use the legs of Thomas Jones on Sunday Night with the season on the line.
Hope this helps and best of Luck in Week 17.
