I am sure you are well aware of this, but Steve “Air” McNair was found dead in a Nashville condo earlier this morning. Reports indicate that McNair was shot once and was found dead on the scene.  It appears drugs could have been involved in the scene but I won’t jump to any conclusion until more is reported.

This is a sad day for all the NFL fans out there, as McNair was a staple in the NFL for 10+ years and a fantasy stallwart for most of those years.

Steve McNair, the Bruno Boys will miss you.

Tragic, and let’s hope it didn’t involve drugs because McNair was one of the good people around the NFL.

Ziza,

That is right he was a great person and always a classy interview. I hate whenever someone is fatally killed and this seems to be the circumstance with the man we all loved to root for.

I hear ya Marc. In fact it was only a few short years ago that I grabbed him off of the waiver wires when my main two quarterbacks went down with injury and while he wasn’t dominant anymore, he played solidly enough to help me win one of my money leagues. And to just think, he was only 36. I don’t want to speculate, so I will leave it at that. I just am crossing my fingers that it was a tragedy and not an action of circumstance.

The Bruno Boys thoughts and prayers are with all the friends and family effected by the loss of Steve McNair…Reports have now indicated that McNair’s death was indeed a homicide as the quarterback suffered multiple gunshot wounds - two to the head and two to the chest. It is believed, however not yet confirmed, that this was a case of murder-suicide with McNair’s girlfriend, Saleh Kazemi, who died of one gunshot to the head, the one responsible for the shooting.

I hear that. Over a stupid chick that was half his age and not all that pretty to begin with. Oh well, time and time again you see what happens when you think with the wrong head. It’s a shame.

By all accounts, Steve McNair was a great team mate and a good father. Far from being a selfish spoiled brat along the lines of Plax, Vick, Leaf, insert any Bengal, etc. Far greater men in terms of public stature have strayed outside their marriages, Presidents(Clinton,JFK), Attorney Generals(Spitzer), and countless captains of industry(Jack Welch),just to name a few.

If you read a similar story in the local paper about some random guy who was killed by his mistress, you ponder it for as long as it takes to finish your coffee, and life goes on. McNair has been part of our lives since his super human days at Alcorn State. We watched him battle every Sunday. He earned our respect for the competitive spirit that burned endlessly inside a huge heart above and beyond his god given talent.

Thanks for hanging out with us on Sundays “Air” McNair. You will be missed.

Great post and so true throughout. He was a soldier on the field. I remember reading articles about him not being able to get out of bed for a full week after games but showing up and producing at a high level come Sunday.

One things for sure, he’s the type of player I’d want leading my NFL team.  Sad to see him go.
