The Arizona Cardinals are rolling with untested rookie John Skelton at quarterback in the team’s Week 14 matchup against the Denver Broncos. Derek Anderson hasn’t been cleared to return after suffering a concussion in Week 13 and rookie Max Hall was placed on injured reserved Tuesday after separating his left shoulder in the same game against the St. Louis Rams. Skelton debuted in a limited capacity after Anderson and Hall were knocked out of the game. He went 3-of-6 for 45 yards.
The Cardinals signed Richard Bartel to be Skelton’s primary backup. Bartel has been on the practice squad or active roster for a number of NFL teams since 2007, including the Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns and Washington Redskins. Most recently he served as Daunte Culpepper’s backup on the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the UFL.
