Jordan Akins, TE, Houston Texans
Akins missed three games due to a concussion, then e was eased into action in his first two games back. Then in Week 11 against the New England Patriots, he played 51 percent of the snaps and finished with five catches for 83 yards. Injuries to Randall Cobb (toe) and Kenny Stills (quad) opened the door, an indication Monday are Cobb will be put on IR.
Week 12 against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day is not a great matchup for Akins. But there is room for him to have a role patrolling he middle the field, especially if Cobb is vacating the slot role.
Akins gets a good matchup in Week 14 against the Chicago Bears, then a great matchup in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Add in the Deshaun Watson element, and you’ve got a waiver wire at tight end.
