The running backs position has already taken a hit with some key injuries flipping the table on some running back committees like the Colts, while others have become more difficult to call, like the Lions. Start the wrong guy and it could be the difference of 20-30 points. Let’s see which ones look good for Week 2.
David Montgomery, Chicago Bears vs. New York Giants
Montgomery was a question mark heading into Week 1 but ultimately played against the Lions and did well, rushing 13 times for 64 yards (4.9 YPC). He did not score a touchdown and was enough of a spoil to ruin Tarik Cohen’s golden opportunity in Week 1. So does Montgomery look to build off that performance?
Well, he has a grade A matchup against a Lions defense that’s still struggling. They allowed 149 rushing yards, which was good for 26th in the league in Week 1 and even though Montgomery is an RB3/Flex play, he should push to get RB2 numbers.
