The tight end position has seen a little bit of everything. Every week it seems we have a new names to consider. Some young ones developing right on time and that’s very encouraging for what is typically a talent-starved position. Then there are the journeymen whose names we kick around each week.
It’s not always easy to navigate this feast or famine position, but we’re always looking out for the right matchups. Right now, let’s see which ones do NOT pass the grade for Week 5.
Austin Hooper, Cleveland Browns vs. Indianapolis Colts
Coming off a game where Hooper finally scored a touchdown, now he walks into a graveyard for his position because no tight ends have come out of a game against the Colts with fantasy numbers. Overt he course of four games, the Colts have given up just 11 catches off of 22 targets for 71 yards. No scores.
As many expected, Hooper has yet to look good on his move to Cleveland and inking that big contract. He’s yet to crack 100 yards receiving over four weeks. Rookie Harrison Bryant is competing for looks and David Njoku is back practicing. It’s just a crowded house with only one ball to go around. With the Colts playing like they have been, the Browns will likely throw to where the defense least expects it.
