Javonte Williams, Denver Broncos

Unlike Jamaal Williams, rookie running back Javonte Williams might not have as significant as a role as some might be hoping for. However, when Phillip Lindsay was sharing the backfield with Melvin Gordon, it was around a 40/60 split, respectively. Williams is a fantasy draft pick that is purely all about upside.

He was viewed as one of the best running backs in the 2021 NFL Draft class. Strong, aggressive with burst, Williams is one of the few rookies who will get on the field early in the season. It’s a reason why his ADP is climbing and in some cases is higher than Gordon’s.

The Broncos have Gordon who they don’t think can be a bell cow by evidence of their past running back committees. It’s not a far stretch to think that Williams could earn himself a 50/50 split sooner rather than later and that puts him in the flex conversation.
