Brock Purdy will throw UNDER 20.5 completions (-125 BetMGM) against the Cowboys
Start Time: Sunday, January 22, Levi’s Stadium 4:30pm ET
Broadcast: Fox Sports / fuboTV / NFL+
While I would have liked slightly better odds to make money, this is a low key bet if you want to get in on the Purdy action this week. Outside of two games this season, (Las Vegas and Miami) Purdy lives in that 15-17 completion range. He’s highly efficient and isn’t asked to throw that much. Either this 49ers team handles their business or he is pressed to throw a little more, but even when the game is in control, Kyle Shanahan has this offense taking low risks.
Last week, Purdy threw 30 passes for just the third time against the Seahawks, for 332 yards and three touchdowns. He completed only 18 of his passes.
To say that this is the first real defense Purdy has faced all season is an understatement. Dallas (55 sacks) is the first defense that he’s faced that has over 45 sacks and the first one he’s seen that’s picked off at least 15 interceptions. He’ll want to steer clear of Trevon Diggs, which means low volume to Deebo Samuel unless it’s a run play or shovel pass. Purdy is going to need to go to his second or third progression and he’ll do it because he’s cool under pressure, but we don’t think he’s reaching 21 receptions against the Cowboys.
