The first week of any NFL season is one that speeds by and leaves a plethora of storylines and overreactions. Some have an ending that ends in tragedy. Others need some time to work out. We’re going to do a quick rundown of the week that was and the injuries that matter.
AFC East
Buffalo Bills – Total domination. The Bills smothered the Rams in every facet of the game. But let’s not anoint them Super Bowl Champs yet.
Miami Dolphins – The Mike McDaniel era of the Dolphins started out in grand fashion as they ran their win streak against the Patriots to four straight, and fifth in Miami. The Dolphins beat them with defense and speed, and clean play from Too Tagovailoa.
New England Patriots – Mac Jones injured his back on a roughing the passer penalty. His scans came back negative and it’s thought of to be not serious. Still, his condition will be day-to-day as the Patriots try to regroup for the Steelers in Week 2.
New York Jets – Joe Flacco heaved the ball 59 times but most of it came in garbage time as the Jets started another season with a loss. Nothing worked as the injuries on the offensive line appear to be problems the team has no answer for yet. Zach Wilson will be out for at least two more weeks.
