5. Daniel Jones, QB, New York Giants vs. Houston Texans
There are some encouraging things about potentially streaming Jones this weekend. Some might be in a bind with Josh Allen and need a streamer for a week. Jones makes sense as someone who is likely still available in many leagues and has pieces around him that make him attractive, albeit most of them are inconsistent (Kenny Golladay, Wan’Dale Robinson, Darius Slayton). He himself is wildly inconsistent throwing just six touchdowns and doing more with his legs than his arm.
However, I am concerned with fantasy owners thinking he is a streaming possibility because of his matchup with Houston. They are a deceptive matchup because of their record, but the Texans, fueled by lots of draft picks, have improved defensively. Against the pass, they allow just 217.5 passing yards per game. Last week they held Jalen Hurts to 20 fantasy points, his third-lowest output of the season. The Texans have held most quarterbacks to around 15.0 points or below. With Jones already a shaky start, in a bad matchup he’s bolted to the bench even more.
