5. Chris Olave, WR, New Orleans Saints vs. Los Angeles Rams
As the Saints No. 1 receiver this season, the rookie Olave has had to adjust to that increased attention he’s getting from defenses. Right now he’s hit a rut of three games where he’s caught 14-of-21 targets for 163 yards. This after Weeks 3-7 where caught 24-of-40 for 374 in four games with two touchdowns. This week he’ll draw Jalen Ramsey in coverage and that’s no easy walk in the park.
This isn’t necessarily an indictment of Olave not being able to handle the better coverage. Andy Dalton has to play better too, which he hasn’t. We’d like to see Olave perform well against a tough opponent like the Rams as a sign of his maturation and development, but the matchup is tough and that goes for all the Saints across the board.
