AFC West

Week 4 in the AFC West can be best summed up by the performance of two running backs, the loss of another, and Patrick Mahomes taking care of business.

Denver Broncos – We anticipated that Russell Wilson would have himself a game. He scored three touchdowns (1 rushing) but the Broncos suffered a great loss. Javonte Williams tore his ACL and MCL and is lost for the season. That has the Broncos scrambling for depth because Melvin Gordon can’t hold onto the ball. Mike Boone will be a hot name in waiver wires this week and so will Latavius Murray who was signed off the Saints’ practice squad.

Kansas City Chiefs – Patrick Mahomes threw three touchdowns to the usual tight ends (Travis Kelce and Jody Fortson). The target share for JuJu Smith-Schuster is steady at eight per game (in 3 out of 4 games) but he still can’t reach the end zone.

Las Vegas Raiders – Derek Carr didn’t need to put up gaudy numbers this week because Josh Jacobs finally stepped up and ran wild on the Broncos. He scored two touchdowns and had 32 touches for 175 total yards. The should quiet all the Zamir White talk and all of the new Mack Hollins owners have buyer’s remorse. Also, if anyone can locate Darren Waller, many fantasy owners are looking for him.

Los Angeles Chargers – Austin Ekeler owners have been waiting for Big Eks day. Four weeks into the season and they finally got one. 19 touches for 109 yards and three touchdowns. There was still enough room for Mike Williams and Gerald Everett to get theirs, but there’s no use going further than that. Joshua Palmer, DeAndre Carter, and Sony Michel’s contributions are too few and far between games.
