Welcome, Bruno Boys Nation to the Week 1 of the 2023 NFL Season! Along with the variety of fantasy football formats, we cover Player Prop bets. So in case you just want some quick action for the weekend, Ernie Estrella is tackling Player Prop betting during the season. He will break down and select a handful of bets for five players at quarterback, running back and wide receivers / tight ends, based on how he sees the game script going.

Week 1 Wide Receivers and Tight Ends

DK Metcalf will…receive OVER 60.5 yards (-110 FanDuel) against the Rams.

Start Time: Sunday, September 10, Lumen Field, 4:25pm ET
Broadcast:  FOX Sports / FOX Now / NFL+

This will be the 10th time Metcalf has faced the Rams. In eight regular season games and one playoff game, he’s caught 65 passes for 622 yards with six touchdowns. Those are great numbers that can help forecast this game. Now, looking over his numbers, he had two great games in a single season against the Rams, back in 2021 when the Seahawks played the Rams in the playoffs and he caught five passes for 96 yards and two scores.

Now, I’m focusing on his 2022 numbers because he caught eight passes for 127 yards in the first game with one touchdown, then three passes for 40 yards in the second game. Those are numbers with Geno Smith at QB and how Sean McVay made the adjustment in the second game. 61 yards could be four catches or one really big play for Metalf. That’s why I think the 60.5 prop is underestimating him. A lot. Metcalf likes to start off strong and I think he’ll do so here against an inferior Los Angeles team.
