Georgia State (1-1) at Arkansas State (2-2)
Spread: Arkansas State -3 (-110)
Over/Under: 71 points
Time: 7:30pm ET (ESPN)
Nothing like Sun Belt action on a weeknight to get you going! Coming off a 1-0 start to the week (I had Coastal Carolina +9 last night), we now get to sit back and watch two teams who have had surprisingly good starts to the season. Georgia State will now travel to take on the Red Wolves Thursday night at 730pm EST in what should be a excellent football game. Arkansas State opened between -3 and -3.5 with a total of 71.
Georgia State has looked terrific early, but with covid issues they have only played two games and have been off for extended time not playing back to back games yet this season. Through these two games though they have shown tons of potential, highlighted most recently by the 193 total yard advantage over East Carolina which looks good as ECU continues to improve.
With 16 returning starters (8O/8D) the key to this team has been the ability to move the ball and continue to put pressure on opposing defenses. Tonight should offer some value as both of these teams want to push the tempo all game long.
On the other side of the ball, Arkansas State is now getting ready to play their third game in 13 days. They will return 15 starters with a dual QB system and a prolific overall offense. Arkansas State is 15-4 as a Conference Home Favorite but allows over 26 first downs a game, over 400 yards a game and with the offense they are showing I think this is a shoot out.
Interesting side note, on a short week Arkansas State Head Coach Blake Anderson is 8-2 in his last 10 ATS and I expect more of the same in the one as I feel Arkansas State will be able to dominate through the air. Georgia State will struggle defensively in this one, but they should have no problem on the other side of the ball, as they have already shown this season. A high number, but one I still think gets there, so we will take this one two ways!
Pick #1: Over 71 points (-110 at Westgate)
6-point Teaser Pick #2: Arkansas State +3 to Over 65 points (-120)
