James White, New England Patriots at Tennessee Titans
Look, no one is probably sitting James White, he’s too good and too heavily targeted to simply sit. But as teams weigh their options, I want to caution using White in a non-PPR league where he is not getting you points for receptions. He’s been targeted 81 times and pulled in 61 receptions. He’s carrying a 59.0 average yards per game. That’s better than a lot of WR2s and WR3. Beside Julian Edelman, you know that Tom Brady is going to target the hell out of White. So why bench him? When you consider what the Titans have done, you’ll at least reconsider. One running back has scored against them and that’s Alex Collins who scored two rushing touchdowns in Week 6. Only two backs have reached 70 yards rushing. Now you might say, White doesn’t run the ball much. He catches the ball and to that I’d say that no back has scored against the Titans through the air. Tom Brady may be forced to target his receivers more in this game, maybe we’ll even see Malcolm Butler have something to prove against his old team. Either way, White is less appealing this week in non-PPR leagues.
