It’s finally back! It’s Opening Day of the 2021 MLB season baby! And would you know it, a full 162 game season. In 2020, the pandemic shut down the start of the season, with an eventual restart of 60 games and we took full advantage of the games. We created the Launch Pad progressive hitter wager. On top of that, Stake & Egg$ was born and we finished +45 units. To get these two daily wagers, make sure to follow @BetSmartPodcast on Twitter.
As you will learn, I love to drop player props, but they will begin May 1. I’m a numbers guy, so I need this month to collect the data. Let’s kick off opening day proper, with some MLB sports betting wagers.
Chicago White Sox (0-0) at Los Angeles Angels (0-0)
Betting Line: White Sox -115 / Angels +105
Over/Under: 8 runs
First Pitch: 10:05pm ET
This game should have a little bit of everything tonight. Quality pitching with Lucas Giolito facing off against Dylan Bundy of the Angels. Giolito is one of the better arms in the American League and Bundy had a breakout 2020 season.
I like what the Angels have built in year two under Joe Maddon and expect them to come out strong tonight and claim an Opening Day victory. At plus money, this is the edge we are looking for to start the season.
Pick: Angels (+105) | 1 unit
MLB Parlay of the Day
The Los Angeles Dodgers are the reigning World Series Champions and have retooled in 2021. Just 90 minutes South of LA, the division rival had an incredible offseason and are primed to upend the Dodgers throne atop of the MLB.
Both teams are heavily favorites on Opening Day, with the Padres sitting at -250 over the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Dodgers at -225 against the Colorado Rockies.
Combine these two favorites into a parlay and you get plus money for what should be two fairly easy winners. Sign me up!
