Taylor Heinicke, QB, Washington Commanders
Heinicke didn’t light it up on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings (15-for-28 for 149 yards). But he did have two passing touchdowns for the second time in three games, and he has accounted for two touchdowns in all three of his starts in place of Carson Wentz (finger).
Wentz will miss at least one more game on IR, if not a few more, and he is not guaranteed to get his starting job back. So Heinicke will start in Week 10 against the Philadelphia Eagles, albeit in a tough matchup, before things ease up in Week 11 (Houston Texans), Week 12 (Atlanta Falcons) and Week 13 (New York Giants). The first two would cover the far end of the 4-6 week recovery timetable Wentz had originally.
It will not look pretty for Heinicke, but he seems to find a way to get things done quite often. He’s more of a QB2 than a QB1 in fantasy, but he is a sneaky low-end streamer and for as long as he’s starting he shouldn’t be dismissed.
