Latavius Murray, RB, Denver Broncos

Murray had 17 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders, along with four catches (on four targets) for 23 yards. He has led Broncos running backs in carries in each of the last two games, with a touchdown in three of his last four. He also has at least three passing game targets in three of his last four games, wih seven catches over the last two.

In Week 12 Denver will face the Carolina Panthers, who entered Week 11 allowing the fifth-most fantasy points per game to running backs (Yahoo!, 0.5-point PPR). After a tough matchup in Week 13 against the Baltimore Ravens, the Kansas City Chiefs (9th-most fantasy points per game to running backs) are on the slate in Week 14 and again in Week 17. Week 15 against the Arizona Cardinals is also a pretty good matchup.

Counting on much of anyone in the Broncos offense in a fantasy lineup is a tough proposition at this stage of the fantasy season. In regard to Murray, Melvin Gordon and to a lesser extent Chase Edmonds could vulture more touches too.

But it’s clear Murray has earned no less than the primary goal line role and a chunk of the passing game role in a potential three-headed committee which isn’t quite that yet. Edmonds also suffered an ankle injury on Sunday.

If only as a flex option down the stretch, Murray is worth a long look as a waiver wire add in 12 and 14-team leagues this week.
