Cam Akers/Kyren Williams, RB, Los Angeles Rams
Once on the outs with the Rams, Akers had 14 carries for 61 yards against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Kyren Williams and Darrell Henderson combined for nine carries in the game. Henderson only played four snaps, but didn’t appear to be injured.
Williams had the passing down role on Sunday, and averaged over five yards per carry (seven for 36 yards). But Akers had more volume as the early down guy, and he was productive enough to keep earning chances.
The unpredictability of the Rams’ backfield, and the general ineptitude of the offense, diminishes Akers’ fantasy stock. Matthew Stafford was evaluated for a concussion after a third quarter hit on Sunday too, further dampening things if he misses time again.
But the next three or four weeks are favorable for the Rams’ running backs, with the Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks, Las Vegas Raiders and Green Bay Packers on the slate from Week 12-15.
Williams is worth a look as a waiver wire add this week too, but slightly more speculatively than Akers with a tilt toward deeper leagues.
