Jordan Akins, TE, Houston Texans
Akins had three catches (on six targets) for 22 yards and a touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. He has at least five targets in three of his last four games, with two touchdowns in that four-game span and he has double-digit PPR points in three of his last six contests.
In Week 16 Akins gets the Tennessee Titans, who entered Week 15 allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to tight ends (0.5-point PPR). Then comes a Week 17 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who entered Week 15 allowing the ninth-most fantasy points to tight ends (0.5-point PPR).
As ugly as the tight end position is, matchups have to be noted and targeted. Akins is obviously not alone in having a low floor at the position, but his Week 16-17 matchups make him a must-add in leagues with 12 or more teams for those who don’t have a consistent answer at tight end.
