Chris Ivory, RB, Buffalo Bills
With LeSean McCoy out on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, Ivory stepped in with 126 total yards (56 rushing) on 23 touches (20 carries, three catches). A 55-yard catch and run on a blown coverage helped, but Ivory had a productive outing in a tough matchup and he was clearly Buffalo’s lead back in McCoy’s absence.
Along with a rib injury that is likely to linger, McCoy also faces the possibility of an off-field issue taking him off the field at some point this season. So Ivory could be headed for several weeks of being a workhorse, with residual (if only volume-driven) production.
McCoy owners in deeper leagues could consider Ivory a priority add, especially since better news on McCoy’s rib injury than was first reported did not yield him being in uniform for Week 3. Other owners looking for a way to stem the tide of bye weeks could see a safe, if somewhat speculative, floor in being able to plug Ivory into a lineup down the road.
