Week 4 was a week of NFL turbulence, as one game (Steelers-Titans) was postponed due to the Titans’ COVID-19 outbreak and a second (Patriots-Chiefs) was rescheduled for Monday night due to the residuals of a positive test for Cam Newton.

Here are nine early must-adds off your Week 5 fantasy football waiver wire, as originally scheduled bye weeks start.

Joshua Kelley/Justin Jackson, RB, Los Angeles Chargers

After what looked like a breakout in Week 2 filling the Melvin Gordon role in the Chargers’ backfield (113 total yards on 25 touches), Kelley had eight carries for 43 yards in Week 3. Then he had nine carries for seven yards, with three catches for 26 yards and a lost fumble, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4.

Justin Jackson was active for the first time since Week 1 against Tampa Bay, and it’s not as if he did better than Kelley (six carries for nine yards, two catches for 12 yards). But Austin Ekeler went down in Sunday’s game, and he’s expected to miss multiple weeks with a hyperextended knee and a hamstring strain.

The Chargers offense has supported two fantasy-relevant running backs in the past. Kelley and Jackson are the two with a path to prominent roles while Ekeler is out, and both are worth a look in leagues with 12 or more teams.
