Andy Dalton, QB, Dallas Cowboys
The gruesome nature of Dak Prescott’s leg injury on Sunday against the New York Giants puts Dalton here as a late entry. Prescott is done for the season. Dalton had a good showing in relief on Sunday, completing 9 of 11 passes for 111 yards, and now he’ll start.

A bad Cowboys defense will bring weekly shootouts, and Dalton is stepping into some semblance of the volume Prescott was unleashing in the first four games. Dalton won’t be throwing 50 times a game like Prescott did in Week 1-4, but he has a top-5 fantasy running back (Ezekiel Elliott) and three very good wide receivers (Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup) at his disposal. A high tide raises all ships.
Dalton doesn’t have to be a star to deliver fantasy value in Prescott’s place. In 13 starts for the Bengals last year, he threw for at least 250 yards eight times. There’s at least QB2/streamer value to be had here in leagues with more than 12 teams.
