Joe Mixon (foot) missed Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns, and Bernard delivered nicely in his stead with 96 total yards (59 receiving) and a receiving touchdown on 18 touches (five receptions). Before the game, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Mixon may miss Week 8 against the Tennessee Titans as well.
The Titans entered Week 7 in the bottom-12 of the league against running backs (Yahoo! 0.5-point PPR). On Sunday James Conner had 111 total yards against them, while Steelers’ backup running back Benny Snell scored a touchdown.
The Bengals have their bye in Week 9, so Bernard may only get a two-week run as the lead back. But there’s plenty of room to add him this week, ahead of a good matchup, and he looks viable in PPR leagues even if/when Mixon is healthy.
