Jeff Wilson/JaMycal Hasty, RB, San Francisco 49ers

Another week, another 49ers’ running back is fantasy relevant as Kyle continues his father’s tradition of Shanahan-igans. With Raheem Mostert (ankle) on IR, it was Wilson’s turn against the New England Patriots on Sunday. He returned from a calf injury to finish with 17 carries for 112 yards and three touchdowns, while adding two catches for eight yards to boot. On the third touchdown run, Wilson suffered an ankle injury and did not return.

Mostert will miss at least two more games. Jerick McKinnon and JaMycal Hasty (73 total yards in Week 7) aren’t going away in the meantime, but Wilson will be the proverbial hot hand heading into Week 8 against the Seattle Seahawks if he’s healthy. Looking to Week 9, on a short week for a Thursday night game, a Green Bay Packers defense that entered Week 7 allowing the most fantasy points to running backs (Yahoo!, 0.5-point PPR) is on the slate for San Francisco.

Wilson could fade back into nothing as a fantasy commodity as quickly as he resurfaced on Sunday. But he has challenged his head coach to take him off the field anytime soon with a huge game. If his ankle injury isn’t a long-term thing, that makes Wilson worth a look in leagues with 12 or more teams.

Hasty is worth a look in leagues with 12 or more teams as well. If Wilson gets a bad prognosis on Monday, substitute Hasty (18 carries for 94 yards over the last two games) here.
