Josh Palmer, WR, Los Angeles Chargers

Palmer did not play in the Chargers’ last game in Week 7 due to a concussion, but he is expected to be cleared coming off the team’s bye week. He will theoretically be ready to step into the role vacated by Mike Williams, who is expected to miss a month with an ankle injury. Keenan Allen has also been battling a hamstring injury, and it’s unclear how the bye week will benefit him.

In Week 9 the Chargers face the Atlanta Falcons, who entered Week 8 allowing the most fantasy points to wide receivers. So Palmer won’t necessarily need a bunch of targets to have a nice outing. But in four of his last five games he has had at least six targets, with more than 50 yards or a touchdown three times in that span.

Week 10 against the San Francisco 49ers will be a tougher matchup, then it will get good again for Palmer in Week 11 against the Kansas City Chiefs. In Week 2 against Kansas City, Palmer had four catches for 30 yards and a touchdown on eight targets.

With Williams expected to be out at least the next three weeks, Palmer is at minimum a solid add-and-stash and plug-and-play option in leagues with 12 or more teams. Assuming he is cleared from his head injury, he’ll be on the WR3/flex radar in Week 9 with six teams on a bye.
